Grand Pipe Organ
Pope Pius X stated the significance and purpose of the organ as follows: “The organ should assist the songs, and its performance, whether in accompaniment, prelude, interlude, or otherwise, should not merely reflect the characteristics of the instrument, but should bring to bear all the characteristics of true church music. It should also express the solemnity of the place and produce a harmony that conveys the dignity of the
ceremony.”
Osaka Cathedral has a magnificent pipe organ. The organ was built by Vershueren of the Netherlands, and at the time of its dedication, it was the largest pipe organ in any church in Japan.
