５月に入り、晴れ渡った空に、新緑の木々にすがすがしさを感じる季節になりました。新年度がスタートして、早くもう１か月が経ちました。皆様はもうご存じだと思いますが改めてご挨拶を申し上げ、自己紹介をさせていただきます。私は大阪聖ヨゼフ宣教修道女会のDUONG THI BICH LIEU と申します。ベトナムの南にある高原でGIA LAI という所の出身です。
私にとって日本に来て印象というか魅力なことは季節です。私の故郷は一年、雨季と乾季だけですが日本は四季、春夏秋冬があります。季節によって自然の風景が変わっていき、春の桜、夏の緑、秋の紅葉、冬の雪景色、それぞれに違った魅力や素晴らしさを楽しんでいながらこれを創ってくださった神様に感謝し、賛美します。
「神よ，造られたすべてのものによって，
わたしはあなたを賛美します。
わたしたちの兄弟，太陽によってあなたを賛美します。
太陽は光りをもってわたしたちを照らし，
その輝きはあなたの姿を現します。
わたしたちの姉妹，月と星によってあなたを賛美します。
月と星はあなたのけだかさを受けています。
わたしたちの兄弟，風によってあなたを賛美します。
風はいのちのあるものを支えます。
わたしたちの姉妹，水によってあなたを賛美します。
水はわたしたちを清め，力づけます。

わたしは深くへりくだってあなたを賛美し，感謝します。」

そして、教会にとって５月は聖母月、特別な季節です。５月の新緑の美しい、和やかな青空、色とりどりの花々が咲き乱れる季節でこの月をマリアにささげ、マリア崇敬のために祈り続ける信心が伝統としてなされてきました。私たちの母となってくださった聖母マリアを想い、普段の生活で小さな犠牲にし、誰かに心を込めて挨拶したり、笑顔をつづけたりすることや“ありがとう”、“ごめんなさい”を言えたり、物を大切にしたりすることを務めてゆけたらいいなと思っています。すべては霊的な花束になり、マリア様に捧げて、この聖母月を歩んでゆきましょう。
Let’s Walk With Mary This Month

May has arrived; the season of clear skies and fresh green trees is refreshing. It has already been a few months since the new year started. I am sure you all know the I am now working at the parish, but I would like to say hello again and introduce myself. My name is Duong Thi Bich Lieu from the Missionary Sisters of St Joseph of Osaka. I come from a place called Gia Lai on the plateau in the south of Vietnam.
What impresses and fascinates me about Japan is the seasons. My hometown has only rainy and dry seasons all year round, but Japan has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The natural scenery changes with the seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, colorful leaves in autumn, snowy landscapes in winter, each with its own charm and splendor, which I enjoy and praise God for creating. Consider St. Francis’ Canticle of the Sun:
Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,Yours are the praises,
the glory, the honor, and all blessings.
To You alone, Most High, do they belong,
and no man is worthy to mention Your name.
Praised be You, my Lord, with all your creatures;
especially Brother Sun, who is the day, and through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor,
and bears a likeness to You, Most High One.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars;
in heaven You formed them clear and precious and beautiful.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Mother Earth,
who sustains us and governs us and who produces varied fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
Praised be You, my Lord, through those who give pardon for Your love, and bear infirmity and tribulation.
Blessed are those who endure in peace for by You,
Most High, they shall be crowned.
Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death, from whom no living man can escape.
Woe to those who die in mortal sin. Blessed are those whom death will find in Your most holy will, for the second death shall do them no harm.
Praise and bless my Lord, and give Him thanks, and serve Him with great humility.

For the Church, May is the month of the Virgin, a special season; a time when the beautiful, blue sky and colorful flowers show that new life is in bloom. It has been a tradition to offer this month to Mary and to pray for her veneration. In remembrance of the Virgin Mary, who became our Mother, we should make small sacrifices in our daily lives: greet someone with all our heart, keep smiling, say "thank you" and "I'm sorry", and take good care of our things. I hope that I will be able to serve in these ways. Let's walk through this Virgin's month in a spiritual bouquet and offer it to Mary.
