新たな始まり

日本に来てからもう2年以上が経ち、その間ずっと玉造教会に居ます。日本語も日本の生活もほとんど何も知らないまま来たのですが、2年経った今では、少しずつ日本語で自分を表現できるようになってきた気がします。とはいえ、心の中にある全てを伝えられるようになるには、まだまだ長い道のりです。
あと2週間で学校での日本語の勉強が終わるのですが、数日前に司教様から電話があり、勉強が終わったら、教区での最初の宣教地は玉造教会になると言われました。つまり、日本に来てからずっと面倒を見ていただいて、たくさんのことを教えていただいたこの教会コミュニティに、これからも居ることになります。神様が私に与えてくださったこの贈り物に感謝し、皆さんが心に抱いているニーズに応えられるよう、これからも力を与えてくださるようお祈りします。
この2年間は、とりわけ、皆さんが私をよりよく知ってくださるようになり、私も皆さんをよりよく知ることができるようになった時間でした。そうして、神様はキリストを中心とした貴重な友情を私に与えてくださいました。それは、宣教師としての生活に適応する上で、大きな助けとなりました。こうして、多くの賜物を受け取った私は、教会での活動をより積極的に行うという新たな段階に入ります。そのため、信仰をより深く生きる助けとなる、キリスト教の信仰形成、祈り、行動に関する取り組みも提案し始めました。
数ヶ月前、子供たちに向けた祈りと、家族における信仰の伝承に関する大人向けの研修が始まりました。そして数ヶ月後、皆さんの応答と関心に対して神に感謝しています。毎週木曜日の午後、約15人が集まる聖体礼拝は、言語の違いを超えて皆で一緒に祈る機会となっています。また、教会の若者たちのために、様々な国籍の若者たちを集め、言語の壁を取り払ってコミュニティを築くための活動も準備中です。
ご覧のように、私は神に感謝すべき理由がたくさんあります。まず第一に、日本で宣教師として働く機会を与えてくださったことに感謝します。そして、より具体的に言えば、皆さんの間でこの宣教活動を行えることに感謝しています。
皆さんの祈りと助けを頼りにしています。

A New Beginning

It has been just over two years since I arrived in Japan, and since then I have been at Tamatsukuri Parish. I arrived knowing almost nothing about the Japanese language or life in Japan, and after two years, it seems that I am beginning to be able to express myself a little better in Japanese. However, I still have a long way to go before I am able to convey everything that is in my heart.
In two weeks, I will finish my studies at school. A couple of days ago, the bishop called me to tell me that, once I finish my studies, my first pastoral assignment in the diocese will be the parish of Tamatsukuri. In other words, I will continue in this parish community which, since I arrived in Japan, has cared for me and taught me many things. I thank God for this gift and ask Him to continue to give me the strength to respond to the needs that you all carry in your hearts.
These last two years have served, among other things, to help you get to know me better and for me to get to know you better, too. And so, God has given me precious friendships centred on Christ, which have been a great help in my process of adapting to life as a missionary. So, with all the gifts I have received, I am beginning this new stage in which my presence in the parish will be more active. And that is why I have also begun to propose initiatives for formation, prayer, and Christian action that can help us to live our faith more intensely.
A few months ago, I began a prayer group for children, along with a formation programme for adults on transmitting the faith within the family. Now, a few months later, I thank God for your response and interest. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that we have together with about 15 people every Thursday evening allows us to pray together regardless of our language. I am also preparing activities for the young people of the parish in this desire to bring together young people of different nationalities and to build community among us by breaking down the language barrier.
As you can see, I have many reasons to thank God. First of all, I thank Him for the opportunity to be a missionary in Japan. And I thank Him, more specifically, for being able to carry out this missionary work among you.
